EARLY READING & PHONICS
October 2020: Dear Parents
Usually at this time of year we would be getting together to discuss how to support your child at home with becoming a confident and passionate reader. Please find here a link to a presentation on how you can support this at home.
At Meadow Vale Primary School, we use Letters and Sounds and Oxford Reading Tree to support and develop your child's reading. The teaching of phonics is new to many parents and is not how many of us learnt to read at school. It can be challenging to understand at first but is important to get right. Please do ask your child’s teacher or myself if you are unsure or have any questions.
I cannot emphasise how important what you do at home is on your child’s education and future and how vital it is that we work as a team to support your child to achieve their full potential.
It is a 15-minute short video that will give you a very brief insight into reading at Meadow Vale Primary School. Please do find the time to watch it. If you are unable to access it then please do let us know.
