Speech & Language Resource
At Meadow Vale we have a specialist Speech & Language Resource staffed by qualified teachers, learning support assistants and NHS Speech and Language Therapists. The Resource caters to pupils with speech and language disorders. The Resource staff work alongside the class teachers to ensure that the pupils within the Resource are included in the mainstream classroom while having their speech and language needs met through specialist teaching and intensive therapy.
Pupils are placed in the Resource by Bracknell Forest LA after consultation with professionals from the school and governors. Children may be eligible for placement within the Resource if they have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or EHC Plan and have a speech, language or communication impairment, which is their primary need.
Children come to the Speech & Language Resource with different speech and/or language disorders. It is the main objective of the staff that each child has the appropriate programme initiated so that he/she can participate as fully and confidently as possible in the life of the school and eventually return to full mainstream education. There are places for 20 primary aged children and two part-time nursery children.
