W/C 4th May - VE Day Diary

At the end of this week, on 8th May, the bank holiday has been moved to a Friday to coincide with Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, which marks the 75th anniversary of the formal end of World War II.  You will learn more about this in Year 6!

Step 1

Before trying this week's writing, complete the reading comprehension activity in the 'Reading - week beginning 4th May' folder to find out more about VE day.

Step 2

Read through the VE day information powerpoint below.

Step 3

Watch the clip to find out more!  One man recalls what he saw on VE - you could use this information for your writing task.

Step 4

Write a diary entry (we have done these in class but there are some reminders below).

Pretend you were around on VE day - use the VE diary activity sheet below to give you ideas and key words.

Keep it factual and remember to include the key features a diary entry needs (there's a checklist below - choose one that suits you)!

REMEMBER - FRIDAY IS A BANK HOLIDAY SO NO WORK IS SET FOR THIS DAY!

If you have any amazing work you want to share with us, please feel free to email it to us on the 'help' email address - put YEAR 5 in the subject!
