Week 10 Beginning 15th June
Hopefully you will have watched Ms McKay's video where she talks about Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activitist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. Keeping with the theme of inspirational people, our reading is based on such incredible achievements: Benjamin Zephaniah (Monday) and Malala Yousafzai (Tuesday).
Our writing this week is going to be based on a short video about the life of Jacqueline Auriol, one of the first women to fly faster than the speed of sound. Auriol beat her world speed record five times. However, her first attempt almost ended in disaster when the weather turned bad very suddenly.
On Wednesday, we are going to watch the film then write a short biography about Auriol.
For Thursday's lesson, we are going to explore ways to use similes and metaphors to describe Auriol's flights.
On Friday, we are going to write a story based on her flights, using figurative language to engage the reader.
