Week 7- commencing 18th May

Monday 18th May

This week, we are going back to our Autumn topic on the Ancient Egyptians.

To help remind you what life in Ancient Egypt was like, please watch the following video: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02mrbtv then have a look at the Powerpoint attached below. 

Your task for today is to select one artefact from photo sheet attached below. You will need to draw your chosen artefact into your exercise book and then underneath your drawing, write 5 questions which you want to ask about the artefact (like the example in the Powerpoint). 

As a challenge, you could do some research to find the answers to your questions once you are done.

Tuesday 19th May

Today, we are going to be looking at the process of mummification! Please watch the following video which explains why the Ancient Egyptians mummified the dead, as well as the steps that were involved in the process:

Your task today is to pretend that you are in Ancient Egypt and your job is to mummify the dead. Please choose which 'Message in a Jar' task you would like to do below with mild being the easiest and hot being the hardest. To help you with your task, use the 'Mummification Process' sheet below and you can always go back to the video to help you as well. 

You do not need to print the worksheet out. This task can be completed straight into your exercise book if you wish. 

Wednesday 20th May

Today's task is all about hieroglyphs, which was the Ancient Egyptian writing system. Please read the hieroglyphs information sheet attached below. Then choose whether you would like to complete the mild, spicy or hot task about hieroglyphs. To help you with your task, please use the hieroglyphs prompt sheet. 

You do not need to print the worksheet out. This task can be completed straight into your exercise book if you wish. 

Thursday 21st May

The Ancient Egyptians believed in and worshipped hundreds of different gods and goddesses. Please read the information sheet below about some of these gods. Then choose one god/goddess from the sheet to complete today's task on. The worksheet for today's task is below. To help you with the task, you can look back at the information sheet that you read and you may want to do your own research as well. 

You do not need to print the worksheet out. This task can be completed straight into your exercise book if you wish. 

Friday 22nd May

For today's task, you are going to have a go at making a paper model of an Ancient Egyptian mummy.and a sarcophagus (a type of coffin that the mummies were put in). To do this task, you will need to print off the Ancient Egyptian Mummy Paper Model Pack and follow the instructions which are also attached below. For this task you will also need scissors and glue. 

Can't print or don't have scissors or glue to hand? Don't worry- we have a different task for you to have a go at instead! We would like you to design your own Ancient Egyptian death mask. Attached below is a document containing examples of death masks to help give you some inspiration for your own.
